The Abyssal Plane was a bleak, grayish world, void of substance and entirely filled with chaotic energy-based creatures. Today, however, was different. Every single creature across the entire Abyssal Plane had been entangled by unknown white silk threads.
Unfortunately, aside from the Abyssal Sovereign--who was the sole Quasi-God King level powerhouse--the plane lacked even a single God-level combatant.
No one noticed a thing until the threads of karma were just about to wrap around the Abyssal Sovereign himself. Only then was the anomaly detected.
"What the absolute hell is this stuff?" The Abyssal Sovereign's furiously irritated voice echoed throughout the entire plane.
Holding his Divine Overlord Weapon, the Heaven-Gazing Abyss, and wielding the planar power of the Abyss with his Quasi-God King status, the Abyssal Sovereign slashed away at the threads that had somehow managed to nearly wrap around the entire Abyssal Plane.
They were clearly energy-based lifeforms, yet these bizarre threads could actually take physical form? They were directly entangling forms that theoretically didn't even exist within the Abyssal Plane.
It had always been his Abyssal Plane invading other planes. Since when did other things come to invade the Abyssal Plane?
These damn mysterious threads had nearly penetrated the entire Abyssal Plane. If the Abyssal Sovereign hadn't felt an unknown Law appearing within the plane just in time, his entire army would have been wiped out long ago.
A ghost had broken into the house! Didn't they know that?
Boundless, grayish-black planar power formed layers of solid shields, successfully blocking the various white lines originating from the Douluo Plane.
Standing tall, the Abyssal Sovereign continuously swung the Heaven-Gazing Abyss in his hand, severing the layers of karma threads binding his subordinates.
Only after thoroughly purging every single karma thread from the plane did the Abyssal Sovereign sit back down on his throne, resting his chin in his hand as he pondered what this could be.
He had crystal-clear, lustrous white hair, a fair complexion, and handsome features. His pitch-black eyes lacked white sclera, looking as deep and profound as the abyss itself.
His fingers were slender, and a black robe covered his entire body. The broad, thick collar spread out to both sides, blending into a massive black cape that trailed behind him, seemingly stretching into infinity.
As a veteran voyeur, the Abyssal Sovereign had long maintained the habit of observing occurrences on the Douluo Plane.
He had merely responded to the Evil Soul Master on the Douluo Plane for a brief moment to guide their next course of action. How could things have gone wrong so quickly?
Because the Demon Empress had suddenly vanished, the Sovereign's plan to entice her into activating the Blood River God-Slaying Great Array was completely ruined...
Those Evil Soul Master were all practical pragmatists who wouldn't do anything without seeing immediate benefits. They never listened unless given a bit of profit.
Sigh... It had already been over five thousand years. The only variable was gone. Now, they had merely cracked the planar barrier; it couldn't even be considered a full-scale invasion.
The rules of that broken plane were still too powerful. It truly lived up to its reputation as a plane that had once produced gods.
But what major event had transpired during the brief moment he wasn't looking? And what exactly were these strange threads?
As the Spirit of the Plane for the Abyssal Plane, he possessed immense authority here. However, the feedback from the world was simply too fantastical--something he had never even heard of...
The Laws of Karma? Never heard of it. But anything so vague and inexplicable was bound to be powerful... He had better check what happened on the Douluo Plane first!
Utilizing his unique planar perspective, the Abyssal Sovereign opened a massive screen within the Abyssal Plane to observe the events unfolding on the Douluo Plane.
What the hell? Someone on the continent is becoming a god? In such a short amount of time? Achieving godhood?
One had to know that the Abyssal Plane evolved by continuously devouring and absorbing cosmic energy. To take a step further, it could only devour other planes to upgrade itself.
The Abyssal Sovereign could only reach the deity level. Due to the restriction of lacking a physical planet to rely upon, he possessed the status of a Quasi-God King but lacked a Divine Seat.
Why did he keep a close eye on the Douluo Plane? Naturally, it was because gods had emerged from here before. A Divine Realm had existed above it, making it one of the rare high-status planes.
Precisely because the Divine Realm was gone, the Holy Mother of the Abyss had split off forty percent of her energy to send the Abyssal Plane to attack. Although there was a suspicion of being used as a mere foot soldier, it was undeniably a good thing.
Gazing at the Douluo Plane from afar could no longer satisfy the Abyssal Sovereign's excited heart.
With a flash of his body, the Sovereign abandoned all decorum and pressed his face directly against the Douluo Plane, which had been continuously rejecting him.
If the plane hadn't rejected him, the Abyssal Sovereign would have shoved his entire head inside by now!
"Impressive. Directly plundering the altar of the original deity, seizing the divine sense and divine power left behind by the previous god, igniting the power of faith, and then weaving their own Divine Seat."
The Abyssal Sovereign cupped his face, contemplating the feasibility of this method, only to realize that it actually worked! Since the Divine Realm was absent, as long as the original deity had left safeguards at the altar, a newcomer could completely devour the altar and ascend to godhood themselves, provided they could overpower those safeguards.
If he, the Abyssal Sovereign, could obtain a portion of the Divine Realm's energy--like the destruction intent of the God King of Destruction--and have a God King-level energy reference, he might be able to use it to break through to the God King realm.
Then, he could fight his way back from being an Abyssal Lord and clash directly with his creator, the Crimson Mother.
"However, without the command of a powerful energy source, merely bypassing the process makes them a Third-Class God at best."
The Abyssal Sovereign's eyes widened as he stared at the brilliantly glowing Divine Seat on the screen before him. He stared so intently that he was almost sticking his tongue out to lick it.
Nearly six thousand years. He had waited for damn near six thousand years, all for a physical world to rely upon, all to possess a Divine Seat. A beautiful future was waiting for him.
He was practically driven mad by the wait; the only variable in a thousand years was now gone.
The Abyssal Sovereign supported his head with both hands, pulling at his own cheeks. His head slammed against the screen, and his tongue actually began to lick it...
However, the Douluo Plane subsequently mobilized forty percent of its life energy, converting it into that deity's divine power and transmitting it across half the planet.
After a series of inexplicable actions from the old Sea God, he actually helped the newly born Sea God upgrade directly into a First-Class God.
"Is this the Douluo Plane's final counterattack? A hidden move left behind by the previous god?"
The Abyssal Sovereign's gaze fixed tightly on the seven divine rings above Skadi's head. This was almost equivalent to a deity from the Divine Realm descending directly to the mortal world. If a true fight broke out, he might not necessarily be able to defeat her.
Just as the Abyssal Sovereign was debating whether to retreat, he discovered that the newly ascended deity was actually shedding blood into the ocean to nurture all living things in return.
The series of ups and downs gave the Abyssal Sovereign a severe case of nervous exhaustion. While still pondering a strategy, he noticed another clue.
"Oh ho, what kind of thing has come out? The Spirit of the Plane? We've been fighting for nearly six thousand years, and I've wiped out several waves of human leadership, yet I've never seen this thing appear?"
Upon discovering the Spirit of the Plane, the Abyssal Sovereign finally returned to normal, transforming back into a noble and elegant sovereign ruler.
"The Spirit of the Plane, Tang Hao? It looks like he wasn't autonomously manifested by the Douluo Plane itself."
The Abyssal Sovereign smiled with a grim expression, losing his mind once more. He dug his fingers into his head, shaking it frantically as he engaged his unique method of thinking.
"The Divine Realm was swept away by a space-time turbulence and its whereabouts are unknown. Without the nourishment of immortal spiritual energy, the environment for longevity no longer exists. A Second-Class God cannot live for long. Relying solely on himself, it's impossible to seize the status of the Spirit of the Plane. Is he trying to linger on frantically while waiting for the Divine Realm to return?"
"No, there must be someone helping. The deity whose altar was plundered earlier must have had their hidden reserves seized. Only then did the Spirit of the Plane appear."
"Did they disrupt His grand plan? That's why He had no choice but to appear and slay the new deity."
The subsequent twists and turns did not cause too much of a stir.
True, Huang's performance was somewhat formidable, but that was about it; he still wouldn't be able to defeat him.
Too many major events had occurred today. The Sovereign felt as though he was falling behind the times.
That was until he saw the Spirit of the Plane, which had not yet fully formed.
A deity of the Laws of Karma? A deity that had not yet fully materialized.
I get it now! All these threads are the manifestations of the laws of this unformed deity.
The Abyssal Sovereign relaxed a portion of the planar restrictions, allowing a strand of the karma Law to entangle an unfortunate soul.
"You! Come here!" The Sovereign pointed at him, casually tapping the karma thread to entangle his own will onto it.
As a result, the unfortunate soul was directly split in half by an unknown force.
Gazing at the wondrous Laws of Karma in his hands, the Abyssal Sovereign revealed a sinister smile.
"If it can affect me, I can naturally affect it as well. To dare manifest its laws before even fully forming."
"I will directly rewrite reality. Abyssal invasion!!"
The Sovereign released a portion of the planar restrictions, sending his will along the karma threads to influence the Douluo Plane.
Regrettably, the Abyssal Plane possessed no second God-level figure besides himself.
Otherwise, he would have realized that he hadn't severed his subordinates' karma threads at all. He had taken all of that karma upon his own shoulders.
The Sovereign stands alone through eternity! He bore the karma of the entire plane!
