Chapter 1 Daily Intelligence System 2025-12-10 Author: Soy Milk with Steak Chapter 1 Daily Intelligence System The biting cold wind rustled, carrying ice and snow to lash against the withered tree trunks by the roadside.
Louis sat inside a wobbling carriage, its wheels emitting a dull, creaking sound as they rolled over the frozen, hard soil.
He lowered his head to look at the pioneer permit for the Northern Territory in his hand, stamped with the seal of the Imperial Family, and a bitter smile appeared on his lips.
Three months ago, he was directly struck by a mud-truck and transmigrated into another world, possessing the body of Duke Calvin's son, Louis Calvin.
However, despite being reborn as a member of the elite class, he hadn't even enjoyed a single day of the good life before being appointed as a Pioneer Baron, required to head to the Northern Territory to pioneer his own fiefdom.
This was by no means a good thing.
The Northern Territory was frozen year-round, barren and desolate, and the north still faced the threat of glacier giants; it was simply not a place fit for humans to live.
Although the empire nominally controlled the Northern Territory, many regions remained under the control of the survivors of the Snow Kingdom.
Even two years ago, a large-scale rebellion almost completely severed the Northern Territory from the empire, and it was only suppressed at a tremendous cost.
The empire thus realized that it was impossible to maintain long-term stability relying solely on the Northern Nobility.
Consequently, the emperor ordered the children of various noble families to go to the Northern Territory as pioneer lords, trading territories for their strength to stabilize the borderlands.
At the same time, this could weaken the influence of certain noble factions--truly killing two birds with one stone.
Of course, the major noble houses were not fools; how could they fail to see through the emperor's calculations? Most merely dispatched the expendables of their families to humor the emperor.
Louis was one of them.
As the most useless among Duke Calvin's twelve sons, he naturally became the prime candidate for this task.
Upon receiving the pioneer permit, the family gave him eight hundred gold coins, a few carts of grain, three Elite Knights, ten Official Knights, and thirty Novice Knights, urging him to set off immediately.
One look at this lineup showed that Duke Calvin had never intended for his useless son to gain a foothold in the Northern Territory.
As long as he didn't die halfway, dying in the Northern Territory would still count as completing the mission--it was purely a matter of participation.
No one believed Louis could survive in the Northern Territory, and even he didn't have much confidence in himself.
An ordinary corporate worker who had just graduated was suddenly dumped into this freezing, crisis-ridden ghost place--how was he supposed to survive?
Louis tugged at his cloak, but it still failed to block the bone-chilling cold.
He couldn't help muttering curses under his breath: "Damn it, didn't they say every transmigrator gets a golden finger? Why do I have absolutely nothing!"
Just as his voice fell, a mechanical female voice echoed in his mind.
"Daily Intelligence System loading..."
Louis was stunned. Before he could react, information regarding the intelligence system continuously poured into his mind.
The Daily Intelligence System.
Every day, it would randomly push a few pieces of intelligence related to himself, covering resource locations, personal secrets, and even future events...
For a pioneer lord, this golden finger could be said to be the most ideal tool.
As a place full of uncertainties, the Northern Territory possessed all kinds of dangers, but also numerous opportunities.
In such an environment, the daily system would push crucial intelligence to help him avoid dangers and acquire resources.
This undoubtedly paved a smooth and broad path for him to become a powerful lord.
More importantly, even if he encountered the worst-case scenario, with the reminders from the daily intelligence, he could pack up and run ahead of time.
After understanding all of this, Louis could no longer suppress the overwhelming joy in his heart, and he chuckled softly.
A glimmer of dawn had finally appeared on the pitch-black journey of a lord!
"Daily Intelligence System loading complete!"
Following the prompt, a translucent light screen appeared before Louis's eyes, with several lines of text rapidly jumping across it.
[Daily Intelligence Update Complete]
[1: The Third Prince of the Iron Empire will be framed while inspecting the stables at noon today, falling into a manure pit and drowning.]
[2: Duke Calvin's tenth daughter has been born.]
[3: Three kilometers to the west, a school of Northern Crystal Cod will emerge from a glacier fissure at dawn.]
[4: Knight Roy will mix Frost Scorpion poison into your dinner meat soup.]
...
Filled with excitement, Louis read down the list line by line.
The first two pieces of intelligence were of little help to his current plight; at most, they provided him with some psychological comfort amidst his predicament.
For instance, mocking the Third Prince for running into terrible luck in palace struggles.
And once again marveling at his father's boundless vigor and astonishing reproductive capacity.
However, when his gaze landed on the third piece of intelligence, his eyes instantly froze.
"Three kilometers to the west, a school of Northern Crystal Cod will emerge from a glacier fissure at dawn."
Northern Crystal Cod! This was a rare treasure that could only be found by chance, never by seeking.
Before setting out for the Northern Territory, so as not to sit and wait for death, Louis had crammed a fair amount of knowledge about the Northern Territory, and this fish happened to be mentioned.
They lived in extremely cold waters, not to mention having delicious meat.
Most importantly, their fish bones contained a special substance capable of purifying impurities in a knight's bloodline and enhancing their strength.
This stuff was worth a thousand pieces of gold on the market!
This wasn't just a matter of delicious food; it was an opportunity that could be exchanged for money and connections, and could also elevate combat prowess!
This system had arrived at the exact right moment. He had originally been worrying about how to establish himself in the Northern Territory, and now the opportunity was just delivered to his doorstep.
Calming his emotions, Louis continued reading downwards, but his smile suddenly stiffened.
"Knight Roy will mix Frost Scorpion poison into your dinner meat soup."
Louis's Adam's apple bobbed, and his gaze instinctively swept toward the knights busy not far away.
They were gathering around a bonfire to set up camp; some were pitching tents, while others were unloading equipment from the horses.
A few knights responsible for cooking were processing ingredients, pouring chopped meat and wild vegetables into a large pot, with steam slowly rising into the cold night.
A solidly built, honest-looking knight was squatting halfway beside the pot, stirring the broth.
It was Roy.
A chill crept up Louis's spine.
An Official Knight assigned to him by his family was actually plotting behind his back to do away with him?!
He had originally thought these Official Knights looked down on him, but at least they would obey him as their lord. He hadn't expected someone to be prepared to send him straight to the afterlife!
Being banished to a godforsaken place was already miserable enough, but he hadn't even reached the destination before someone couldn't wait to make a move.
Damn it, it was truly impossible to guard against.
Fortunately, there was the Daily Intelligence System, or he might have cashed out his chips directly.
The voice of a knight came from outside the carriage, mixed with the whistling of the cold wind: "Lord, dinner is ready."
Louis straightened his lapels, then slowly lifted the tent curtain and stepped out of the carriage.
The firelight illuminated the encampment, and the steaming meat soup in the iron pot was bubbling.
The rich aroma mixed with the cold wind and drilled into his nasal cavity, involuntarily stirring up a bit of appetite.
The knights sat around the bonfire and had not yet started eating.
According to convention, he, the lord, had to eat first before anyone else could partake.
Louis's gaze swept over the crowd and finally landed back on the iron pot, a hint of a smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
